 Choi, Jong-hyun is the Minister for Economic Affairs at the Embassy of Korea in Washington, D.C. He joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1981, and has since served as Consul at the Korean Consulate in Australia, First Secretary of the Korean Embassy in Brunei, First Secretary of the Korean Embassy in the United States, and Counselor of the Korean Embassy in Belgium and the Korean Mission to the European Union. Minister Choi has held various positions in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MOFAT), including Director of the Trade Information Team in the Office of the Minister for Trade, Director of Trade Policy Planning Division in the Multilateral Trade Bureau, Director of the North American Trade Division in the Bilateral Trade Bureau, Head of Legal Services for International Trade, and Director-General of the Bilateral Trade Bureau. He is a graduate of Yonsei University’s Department of Political Science and International Relations and holds an M.A. in International Relations from the University of Cambridge.
 Prior to joining Mayer Brown,Timothy Keeler, was the Chief of Staff in the Office of the US Trade Representative (USTR), where he oversaw implementation of US policy, strategy and negotiations involving all aspects of international trade matters. During that time, he worked on a number of key issues including: climate change and trade; US and China relations; World Trade Organization negotiations and litigation; free trade agreement negotiations and implementation; and the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States.
In 2001, Tim joined the US Treasury Department’s Office of Legislative Affairs advising members of Congress and staff on Administration positions as Deputy to the Assistant Secretary. These included capital market sanctions, foreign exchange rate policy testimony, appropriations for US agreements to replenish the Multilateral Development Banks, and multilateral debt relief. In 2002, Tim began managing the Office of Legislative Affairs and advising on all personnel, policy, and legal issues.
Tim has also served on the Presidential Transition Team in 2000–2001 as a policy coordinator for the Commerce Department’s (then named) Bureau of Export Administration and the International Trade Commission. Earlier in his career, he served as a professional staff member for international trade on the US Senate Committee on Finance, working on permanent normal trade relations (PNTR) with China, preferential trade programs for Sub-Saharan Africa and the Caribbean basin, and the miscellaneous tariff bill.
In recognition of his government service, he was awarded the USTR Distinguished Service Award, the Treasury Distinguished Service Award, and the Treasury Secretary’s Honor Award twice.
 Preeg, Ernest H. is currently senior fellow in trade and productivity for Manufacturers Alliance/MAPI. Previously, Dr. Preeg was the William M. Scholl Chair in International Business at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS). Prior to joining CSIS, Dr. Preeg served as Chief Economist at the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). He was also a career foreign service officer, having served as U.S. Ambassador to Haiti, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for International Finance and Development, Chief Economist at the USAID, and Executive Director of the White House Economic Policy Group. He served as Director of the Office of European Communities and Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development Affairs. Dr. Preeg is the author of numerous books, including: The Emerging Chinese Advanced Technology Superstate (2005); and India and China: An Advanced Technology Race and How the United States Should Respond (2008). He holds an M.A. and a Ph.D. in economics from the New School for Social Research and taught economics at Brooklyn College.
