JOINT U.S.-KOREA ACADEMIC STUDIES...
This yearly publication compiles the edited and revised versions of papers presented at our most recent Academic Symposium. KEI cosponsors these symposia annually with KIEP and a major university, at that university, on a topic of significance to Korea and the region. The target publication date is three months following the applicable symposium.
Our most recent symposium was held in September 2007 at the University of Southern California on the topic, "Towards Sustainable Economic & Security Relations in East Asia: U.S. & ROK Policy Options." It comprised 11 papers presented over five panels. The panels covered U.S.-ROK economic relations, U.S.-ROK security relations, the DPRK nuclear issue, East Asia's economic and security regionalism, and Korean "soft power" in the form of culture, particularly the Korean film industry.
